GOLDAUGE
object with video
two monitors, surveillance camera, fan, water, grasses, wood (recycled), surfacer
videoloop, bw, 1 minute, 2K, 2023, sound by Felix Kubin
as part of the group exhibition „Kleine Gesellschaft für das Innerste nach Aussen III“
at Galerie Oel-Früh, together with the artists Chika Aruga and Emma Wilson,
curated by the artist and curator Peter Boué
The object „Goldauge“ consists of a box-shaped architecture that opens up at the front into a tunnel-like space. If you stick your head inside, you hear a rhythmic crackling sound and the soft whirring of a fan, the wind of which moves the hanging grasses and the shallow water in a round basin. The video loop appears on a monitor at the end of the rectangular tube and is reflected by the surface of the water, on which the empty chitin shells of found insects are floating. An invisible surveillance camera transmits the face of those looking in to a second monitor outside the box. At the same time, the figure of the viewer merges with the L-shape of the box and becomes a living addition to the object.
